It's just not quite as heavy as I need, but it's my fault for not checking first. Price is excellent, though. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: Jim Dunlop 220 Dun Chrom Steel Slide Med (Electronics) im a guitarist whos been playing for a few years, and i like doing all kinds of music. a guitar slide is used mostly in blues, and some rock guitarists use it occasionally like jimmy page, eric clapton, jeff beck, joe perry. i wanted to try it, and this was the first guitar slide i saw when i looked for one. its cheap, works great, plays anything well. i figured out some techniques on my own, then talked to my guitar teacher. slides are cool, and i learned some things about blues and some other licks. cool product - get it. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: Jim Dunlop 220 Dun Chrom Steel Slide Med (Electronics) Sweet "twangy" sound that is a flash from the past of steel lap guitars. I have a ceramic and this steel slide. Each has a unique sound. The steel as expected has more of brighter twang. When I change my strings, I know that I'll get some differences in tonal quality, but hey, experimenting for that sound that reaches us is what keeps all of us buying new toys. |

I must have tried over 50 different picks, and these are the winner hands-down!!! Not only do they give an excellent sound, but they last forever! After trying one each in .60mm, .73mm, .88mm and 1.00mm, I settled on the .60mm nylon picks. So I went out and bought a 1/2 gross of them, figuring that they would wear out in a couple of weeks each. Boy was I wrong!!! Where as a medium celluloid pick from a major guitar company lasted roughly 2 weeks, I am still on my first pick after 4 months!!! That's right! I have been using one pick every day for at least 1-2 hours a day, and after 4 months, that pick is still going strong!!! So much for the advice about choosing the heaviest pick to play the bass guitar! I was told that if I even tried to use a lighter pick, that I would go thru them like water. Not true in this case. The sound is phenomenal, and they last forever...well...a... Read more 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful: Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: Dunlop Nylon Standard Picks, Grey .60mm (Electronics) Comes in a pack of 12, thinner than i thought but I have never ordered by mm before. Overall very good and flexible, seem very durable, good buy. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: Dunlop Nylon Standard Picks, Grey .60mm (Electronics) Thesea re by far the best picks I've ever used. Once I tried them I became hooked. They last longer than you can keep track of them; you only need to purchase new ones because you lost 'em. The grippy surface ensures far less slips while performing and the nylon springiness interacts just right with the strings. |
Small, broad grip with three tips to provide a variety of tones for player preference.

I started playing 3 and 1/2 years ago and only took 5 or 6 lessons, mainly to ensure I had the basic form right. I used different picks, primarily Gibson and Fender Mediums, primarily because the guy at the guitar store recommended them, and did not really know what I needed. As time went on, I tried the Dunlop Jazz III XLs and stuck with them for three years. It worked great for Jazz, Blues, Rock, and Metal. Also, the wide base worked well with aggressive strumming, and the stiffness allowed for aggressive single-note lines. You could really move those strings around with authority and accuracy. Yet I soon realized that I was in a rut, and could not increase my speed during my practice of scales and fast riffs. A couple of years ago, a guy had recommended the smaller, original Jazz IIIs, but I... This specific one is a set of black not red picks. You can solo like there's not tomorrow with this one pick. I've used many... for ex.. fender, local music brands, guitar center picks, and all the likes... of other brands... but I've always come back to this one. I've also used flimsy ones, light weight picks, stiffer picks, regular stiff, bigger, smaller, average and everything else you can think of... and STILL I've always come back to this one. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful: By One day, my friend gives one of his Jazz III picks, it was red. I mean this thing is small, just a little bigger than an Altoids mint. Adjusting to it was at first very weird due to it's size, but once I did, this thing was it. It was and has been my main pick for picks for about 2 years now. It's fast, allows you to create a pinch harmonic with ease, and it just feels insanely sturdy and comfortable, despite it's size. My style ranges from jazz, blues, and the occasional hard rock. It does it all, and it just makes the strings sound mellow if you want it, and have a vicious bite if you need it. Now, I found it difficult to play rhythm guitar with it so chord heavy players should stray away from this pick in my opinion, but lead guitarists and everyone... Read more |
